Poll says Everton penalty should have been re-taken

Former Premier League referee, Graham Poll says Everton’s penalty against Adrian should have been re-taken because he moved off his line twice before the ball was kicked but he admits this law is often overlooked in the Premier League. He did admit that Kevin Mirallas deserved to be sent off for his two yellow cards.

Writing for the Daily Mail, poll said “Referee Anthony Taylor was absolutely correct to dismiss Kevin Mirallas for two cautionable offences but how Everton didn’t get a second chance to convert their penalty was beyond belief.”

“There are quite a few laws which seem to be ignored at the top level and keepers coming off the goalline before a penalty kick is taken is one of them. “

However, Poll conveniently failed to mention whether it should have been a penalty in the first place with TV replays showing the incident happened just outside the penalty area. So maybe justice was restored anyway.

Since his debut, Adrian has saved twice as many penalties as any other goalkeeper in the Premier League (4).

it happens so much that I actually thought the law had been changed. so we don’t need to feel too guilty. Certainly not for a wrong penalty call.
Anyway the depression on the sick face of that creep Martinez for the second time in 2 months made it all worthwhile.

I think all the while they allow penalty takers to interrupt their run up with a stutter or a stop presumably to make the goal keeper move then i can’t see a problem with the keeper moving off his line .The first player i saw do that was a certain C. Ronaldo when he was at Man .Utd and i have have always felt it is a form of cheating . Lukaku gambled and failed miserably which made the comeback that much sweeter for me !

    Surely a pen then!

6 yard box ? It wasn’t a penalty . The law also states that the player taking the kick must do so with fluid movement , no stopping to see if the keeper moves , if they stop then the keeper is already on the move and will 99 times out of a hundred be off his line due to the flaw in the rule , but its also funny that 2 blatant penalty for us were not only ignored but not even highlighted ? Shearer and plug could have highlighted it but chose not to do so . Why ? Because they are hurting inside big time at being constantly being proved wrong , did you see shearer laugh vindictively when lineker mentioned west ham in a c/l spot could be possible ??
Also is there a bigger crap merchant than the sneak Martinez ! Also I loved noble putting the mug McCarthy in his place , still smirking , love beating the scousers on their turf ,

yeah, If I were Everton, I would take the matter to the courts… I’m sure it would be the case of the century… along with other 10.000 cases just like ours… lol 😀

No pen it was outside the area,
Yes the rules state one fluid movement
We can’t see how many players invaded the area before the ball was kicked also,
I watch foul throws every game un punished, moving balls for free kicks officials adding more time then should be added, players being unpunished for celebrating goals
Off side being missed and others given that are not,
Where do you start and stop,
It does not help when one of your own picks up on your mistakes sitting on his bum in a office when he made loads of those mistakes himself,
At the end of the day this club has had more wrong decisions given against it so far this season,
We were the better team we deserved the 3 points,
Go and look at Kane’s dive Benteke,s dive and tell us that those decisions were right

Actually Three West Ham players have invaded the penalty area before he kicks the ball but no Everton players have invaded the 18 yard area

  • bubs says:

Thanks Sean but them invading the area would not constitute them taking another Pen unless he had scored,
So the Pen should be retaken by the rules,
Go back 4 minutes before that he skipped pass one bad Song challenge and then goes over on the second silly Song challenge,But it’s out side the area,
Up steps Luluka to take the direct free kick
Great shot but great save by By Kouyate who dives across the goal line behind Adrien to head pass the post
Well that what happens in my fantasy world,
By the way we also go on and score 5
The pundits all use their columns to write how they got it wrong and in fact we should have sacked BFS the January before,
