Queen tributes planned at PL matches

|

Premier League clubs will pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II in the games that are going ahead this weekend, it has been confirmed.

BBC Sport reports that all of the matches that are happening this weekend – including the Hammers’ clash with Everton on Merseyside – will begin with a minute’s silence.

That will be followed by the national anthem and fans will be invited to applaud in the 70th minute, a reference to the Queen’s 70-year reign as monarch.

Last weekend’s games were postponed after her death and her funeral will take place on Monday.

All flags at stadiums will fly at half mast, while there will also be tributes to the Queen on video screens and advertising boards around stadiums, including Goodison Park.

There will be seven top-flight matches taking place this weekend and the Irons will aim to get back to winning ways in the league after drawing with Spurs and losing to Chelsea in their last two games.
