Former Hammer Marko Arnautovic is on the verge of returning to European football after reaching an agreement to leave China it has been claimed.
The 32-year-old spent the last two years plying his trade in China with Shanghai SIPG after leaving West Ham for £20m.
His maverick displays at Euro 2020 reminded fans he can still perform at the highest level.
Serie A side Bologna were also credited with interest. And unfortunately from an English perspective, the Italian outfit now appears destined to be the forward’s next club.
Football journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted that Arnautovic is ‘set to sign with Bologna.’ Marko had been linked with a return with West Ham however unlikely, Everton were also said to be in the mix. The Toffees were one club Arnautovic’s agent spoke with about returning to England in January.
However, it now appears his destination is Italy to ply his trade in the Serie A next season if reports are true.
Italy would be perfect. A nasty piece of work who would be a jagged edge in squad morale and off again at the first decent offer.
