Report: Derby eyeing young Hammer

|

Derby are closing in on a deal to sign Joseph Anang from the Hammers this summer.

TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook reports that the goalkeeper is wanted by the League One club as they continue to strengthen after their relegation from the Championship.

Anang spent the first part of the year at St Patrick’s Athletic and played for them in Europe, and now appears poised to move to League One.

The 22-year-old is an England Under-20 international, although he has struggled to make a real breakthrough in his time in east London.

Anang has yet to make his Irons first-team debut but he has played consistently for the youth teams, making 49 appearances for the Under-21s and 12 for the Under-18s.

He has also gone on loan to Stevenage, playing 18 times for the club, while making a total of 29 appearances for St Pats in the Republic of Ireland.

It remains to be seen if this deal will be done in the coming days.

It’s what all goalkeepers need, loads of real game-time experience. Great for Joseph and West Ham.
