Report: Fears growing for Toffees v Irons clash

|

Fears are reportedly growing that Friday night’s clash between Everton and the Hammers could be called off as the new Covid strain escalates across the nation.

According to a report in westhamfans.org there is a big chance of the game being postponed based on “news emerging out of Goodison Park.”

The piece claims club staff have been told there is an extreme likelihood the game could be called off as the pandemic spreads across the nation.

The report points out the  Spurs v Fulham match has been postponed as a result although the Newcastle v Liverpool game is being played.

The report adds that it  seems impossible  football can continue in the current circumstances.

However, as ClaretandHugh revealed earlier at https://www.claretandhugh.info/hammers-to-argue-against-circuit-breaker/  although the Hammers are expecting cancellations to games they will argue against a two week circuit breaker at the next Premier League chairmen’s meeting.

And we can reveal that  despite the reported threat to Friday’s game between us and the Toffees our understanding is there has been no Everton contact with the Hammers at this stage voicing such fears.
