Report: Hammers close in on Moyes successor

|

Lille manager Paulo Fonseca is reportedly top of a shortlist again to replace David Moyes should the West Ham manager leave his role come the end of the season.

The latest report comes from INews earlier today. Fonseca managed Shakhtar Donetsk and Roma before taking charge of Lille last summer.

He has been continuously linked for the last six years with the Hammers and once held talks with West Ham prior to David Moyes first appointment. He is said to have been interviewed by Crystal Palace and Spurs last summer both of which didn’t offer him a role.

Lille manager Paulo Fonseca is a top candidate

How this fits with yesterdays revelation from Tim Steidten that he’s enjoying working with David Moyes is hard to decide. Steidten indicated a long term vision for West Ham and spoke of a 4-5 year project.

Fonseca’s Lille remain 4th in the French top division and face Aston Villa tomorrow in the quarter finals of the Europa Conference League. The Portuguese coach is out of contract at the end of the season and therefore available without compensation.
