West Ham are closing in on Arsenal forward Lucas Perez for just £4m claims Matty Lawless in the Daily Mirror.
Manuel Pellegrini is reportedly keen on the 29-year-old Gunner who spent last season on loan at Deportivo.
Perez joined Arsenal for £17.1million in the summer of 2016 and went on to score seven goals in 21 appearances in his debut campaign. He was farmed out on loan by Arsene Wenger, however, and will not be part of Unai Emery’s plans for the coming season.
Sporting Lisbon were reproted to have registered an interest in £5m- rated Perez but the Spaniard is believed to be keen to remain in the Premier League and his agent has denied contact with Sporting Lisbon.
The Daily Mirror Sports editor Lawless added on his personal Twitter “Lucas Perez to West Ham, very close I’m told. £4m. I think that would be another good signing”

So many sighnings & still more on the cards before 5pm Thursday . It’s like someone lit the fuse of a massive transfer bomb . The perpetrator is very obviously Pellegrini . The Biggest signing in the History of West Ham United . The LS is not exactly what one would call a football stadium , but they keep coming anyway . Expectations are now in danger of running too high . But expectations there are , never the less . Nobody could blame a Fan for his or hers aspirations of a top six ( or better ) finish . Exciting times ahead for all of us ….. just hope beyond hope that we don’t build a bubble just to see it Pop . In Pellegrini we trust I hear everybody shouting … OMG it’s like we have a new home , new manager and new team . One can only support what is happening and support the entire squad .

Another terrible signing, adds absolutely nothing to the team. We are in big trouble and when it happens please remember when I did call it out. Fab no improvement to Adrian, Fredericks, the worst right back in the league, wilshere ineffective, yarmolenko lazy…I can go on but I won’t. We need a 10 and a DM not a average no 9.

I can’t say I’ve ever seen Perez play, but in accepting Pellegrini’s judgement and a purchase price of £4-5m it has to be an excellent deal for a backup striker.
We made a whole team worth of signings that first season in Europe with Bilic when we got knocked out at first hurdle to Astra goo goo. Difference this time is we haven’t just signed squad players but have signed some real game changers. All bargains IF they all recover from the various injuries or lack of form or consistency they all seem to have been blighted with and IF they manage to gel and play well in the Premier League which is not a given.
