Report: Hammers contact striker’s representatives

Josh King is a reported target

West Ham are now being reported as having made contact with Bournemouth striker Josh King’s representatives in a bid to sign a much-needed striker.

We reported earlier that he looked a likely target for the club and the London Evening Standard – with good links to the Hammers boardroom – makes the claim in their latest edition.

They say King would cost around £10m t0 £15m which is well within the club’s available budget and that the Norway international is now a definite target.

King is out of contract in June of next year and is thus available at a reasonable price.

The 28-year-old managed nine goals in a poor – and eventually relegated – Bournemouth side last season and has since been involved in his nation’s two internationals this month.

He was much fancied by Manchester United in the final days of the January transfer window, and like most, had wanted a move to a Champions League club but no such opportunities have yet materialised.

King returned to his former football agent Jim Solbakken in May who is actively trying to find him a return to the Premier League.

King has also emerged as a candidate for Slaven Bilic at West Brom but the hammers would be confident of beating the Baggies to their man.
