Report: Hammers enquire about 18 goal attacker

|

According to the Daily Mail, West Ham made initial enquiries about Bradley Dack from Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers.

The report claims the Hammers believe that his £18million price tag is too high for the 25-year-old attacker but Blackburn may yet lower their valuation if Dack is to get his move to the Premier League.

Dack has been in outstanding form for Blackburn this season, scoring 18 goals and making 10 assists in 45 games across all competitions, scoring the same number of goals the previous season.

Crystal Palace is also said to be interested in the Championship attacker but also think Rovers have overpriced him.

Dack was born in Greenwich and joined Charlton’s Academy before being released at age 14. He joined Gillingham in 2008 on a three-year scholarship before moving to Blackburn in 2017 for £750,000. In his first season for the club he scored 18 goals in 42 league appearances and won the EFL League One Player of the Season award.

I like him, and think he’s exactly the kind of player we like to see in a West Ham shirt. He would undoubtedly entertain, but might frustrate in equal measure unless Pelle sorts out his work rate.

I also think £18m is a stretch, and think a lot of these Championship clubs price their players out of a move to the EPL. I don’t necessarily blame them, as they need to cash in on important players who would otherwise provide an opportunity to reach the Premier League.

I think the compromise is to strike a deal based heavily on appearances and sell-on value, rather than ask clubs like us to such large upfront risks.

If we need English talent we should go for him, he has it all, proper player physical, surprisingly mobile, an eye for a pass scores all types of goals and he looks like he can improve further £18m all day long please.

I think he could be a better signing than Gomez to be honest and less than half the price, might lack a little in terms of pace against Gomez and experience in the top league but he is certainly better at bringing his team mates into the game and imho a more clinical and versatile finisher than Gomez.

He looks like big guy.He isn’t that quick, but definitely has a presence and a good shot.

Looks great from the videos; real strength and agility. Put him up front with Arnie and Antonio and we’d have three bulldozers in the box.
