Report: Hammers face defender competition

|

West Ham face competition to sign Spezia defender Jakub Kiwior, according to a new report in Italy.

Calciomercato claims that AC Milan and the Hammers are both in the hunt to sign the young centre-back in this transfer window.

The 22-year-old has only been with Spezia for a season but the Italian outlet reports that the Hammers have made an enquiry for the player as they look to strengthen defensively.

Issa Diop’s exit has left the Irons scrambling to bring a new defender into the club before the end of the month.

As a result, Calciomercato reports that the Irons could make a bid worth in the region of €10m, or £8.4m.

However, Spezia are said to be minded to reject an offer of that value, with the club of the belief that they can receive a much higher fee next summer.

Kiwior remains a young player but he is already a full Poland international with two caps to his name.
