Hammers linked with Toon star Wilson

Reports are doing the rounds that Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson might be eyeing a move away from the club by the end of the season, and West Ham seems interested in snatching him up.

According to reports, the 32-year-old forward is on West Ham United’s radar, but it’s still up in the air whether the Hammers will make a move to sign him come summer. During the January transfer window, Wilson was valued at £18 million, but it’s likely that West Ham will aim for a more budget-friendly deal, considering his age and injury history.

West Ham are rumoured to be interested in signing Wilson

Moyes mind made up on strikers

Wilson has shown his goal-scoring prowess in the Premier League, but his availability can be a bit dicey due to injuries. It’ll be worth watching to see if he can shake off those injury woes and give Newcastle a strong finish to the season.

But let’s be honest, there are plenty of reasons to doubt this rumour. Sure, Wilson knows his way around the Premier League, and he’s mates with Hammers’ attacker Michail Antonio, but he’s also prone to injuries. Plus, West Ham already boasts one of the older squads in the Premier League, so they should probably be focusing on bringing in younger talent.

And then there’s the glaring issue that Wilson’s style of play doesn’t exactly mesh with David Moyes‘ tactics. Whilst he tends to shine against Moyes’ teams and has a decent goal-scoring record, his playing style doesn’t align with Moyes’ preference for a deep-lying striker role with little support.

Can’t we buy a younger striker from the lower leagues rather than a quick fix senior has been? Who next will be be going after, maybe Chris Wood from Notts Forest? He’s about 32 years old, seems right up Moyes’ alley!

Great goalscorer for the dozen or so games he plays per season. He is getting on now and after two ACL and numerous lay offs would be a candidate for top sick note along with Carroll and Wilshire.
