West Ham are lining up a move for Lille midfielder Amadou Onana, according to a new report in The Sun.
The newspaper claims that Hammers boss David Moyes made a personal scouting trip to watch the 20-year-old play against Chelsea in the Champions League last month.
The youngster has made an impact in the Lille squad this year after being signed in 2021 and has made 21 appearances in Ligue 1 thus far this season.
He is the captain of the Belgium U21 team and The Sun claims that he would cost around £20m in the summer.
Moyes, though, has money to spend and is said to view Onana as the kind of prospect who can develop and thrive at the London Stadium.
Onana came through the ranks in Germany and played for Hamburg at youth level before making the move to Lille, where he is continuing to impress. He has a contract until 2026.
Yes of course – despite a midfielder not being our priority, despite the fact that DM does not play our U23 players in the first team, of course He has been on a personal scouting mission to look at a 20 year old midfield prospect as a matter of urgency
