Report: Irons chase highly rated midfielder

|

dendWEST HAM are reported ready to move for Anderlecht’s Belgium international Leander Dendoncker.

The midfielder played a major part in helping the Brussels club to last season’s title, and is set to play at the World Cup Finals this summer.

Manchester United, City, Chelsea and Everton have all shown previous interest in the 22-year-old.

Widespread reports in Belgium claim that Hammers boss David Moyes is keen on the player who has recently made a successful switch to centre-back from his normal defensive midfield role.

His current deal runs until 2021, but he is believed to have been promised a green light to leave this year if a suitable offer comes in.

West Ham have contacts with Anderlecht via the move of Cheikhou Kouyate in 2014.

Highly rate the lad.. just don’t think he will end up at West Ham unfortunately.

Looks a good prospect. He will cost money but would prefer to splash out on one decent player who is young and eager to make a name for himself rather than bringing in more 28/29/30 year olds who will do for a season or two. Let Snodgrass be the lesson learnt!!

Sullivan will probably make another derisory offer that will be rejected along with the others. It’s like walking into a Ferrari garage wanting to buy a brand new Ferrari but with only enough money to buy a second hand Ford.

Absolutely. Albert and Harry Steptoe will only give the appearance of trying to lure the lad. It’s just another transfer window repeating itself.Groundhog day.

  • Hammer64 says:

Yes it looks like one of those to me. We made a big bid blah blah but for some mysterious reason he decided to go to Man C. Groundhog Day indeed.

We are so frequently “linked” with quality players in transfer windows, which never come to anything, that I’ve given up hoping. Yeah, it would be great if….but I’m not holding my breath.

Like most sanguine West Ham fans, I would much rather be surprised by a good signing than go through the misery of everyone talking about something that’s never going to happen in the real world.

Better link but would it really happen but we need to look at players like this outside PL w youth. Dendockner good DM but need creativity too & like to see us add that & best found outside PL.
Love someone like Frenkie De Jong CM 7 assists & coveres CB bc Sanchez sell 5 apps 2 assists 20yo.
    Elynoussoui 23yo 16 assists.
James Madisson Norwich 7 goals 7 assists scores free kick goals.
    Hakim Ziyech etc.
This are Linka I like young hungry & ready to prove themselves in PL

Dendoncker accepted to stay at the end of last season because Anderlecht was going to play Champion’s league and under the condition that if a good offer came, he would be released at the break or end of this season. Anderlecht was pathetic in the Champions, is out of all euro competition, and has been taken over by Marc Coucke, an investor who purchased the shares of the Vandenstock family. There are a lot of turbulences at the club right now, and the coach/manager who came in a couple of months ago doesn’t seem to be working things out. So, while Coucke might oppose to a Dendoncker departure, the club will not be able to block the player in the summer, and this is the moment for us to get him. After that, he will be unaffordable.

Be prepared however to pay 30 million for him.
