Report: Irons “one step away” from top defender

OgbonnaWest Ham are tonight reported to be close to signing  Juventus defender Angel Ogbonna although Everton are still in the race for the Italian international.

However, according to the Turn based daily newspaper Tuttosport the Hammers are” just one step away” from signing the defender.

The report adds that Juventus are expected to let the player  depart for the Boleyn for €10m plus a potential further €2m in bonus payments.

Ogbonna  has found commanding a regular first team spot at Juventus to be tough and will be aiming for more minutes of game time in England.

ClaretandHugh has already reported sources close to boss Slaven Bilic as saying he expects to get his Number One priority player – a top central defender – over the next seven days and if Tuttosport is to be believed Ogbonna is that man.

  1. Wow that would be a great signing

  2. Never seen him play, the only time I’ve seen him was the CL final and he didn’t get on the pitch. I’ve passed his name onto my crack WP researchers,I expect a War and peace sized file back within the hour lol

  3. Let Everton have him…….. I’m not convinced he’s a ‘top’ player. Squad player for Juventus and Italy at best. West Ham can do better.

  4. Wow,squad player for Juventus, squad player for Italy but he aint good enough for West Ham.Tbh i dont know the guy, just find it amusing that now juventus & italy internationals aint good enough for us,lol, when did we suddenly become this colossus of the world game.Did i miss something.

  5. We just disguise ourselves as a Premiership midtable team.We are actually bigger than Juventus.I know they got to the Champions League final but were still bigger, lol

  6. He is the solid defender Slav wants with Reid or Tomkins to play with, that will leave Ginge as back up plus Burke and Oxford ( not bad )

  7. Ehi TRB what did you smoke? I have the greatest respect for PL that I consider the best European championship… but “Squad player for Juventus and Italy at best”… well that’s a load of crap… I want you to remember just some Juve players: Pogba, Vidal, Pirlo, Morata, Chiellini, Buffon, Mandzukic, Evra… are they good enough for you? 😉
