Report: Irons still want last summer’s target

|

West Ham are still interested in doing a deal to sign Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina.

The centre-back was a target for the Hammers last summer when the Irons were hunting for a centre-back.

David Moyes instead opted to do a deal to sign Kurt Zouma from Chelsea, but it seems that Milenkovic could again become a target in this transfer window.

A report in Italy from Corriere dello Sport claims that the Hammers are still interested and could look to reignite their pursuit.

Milenkovic only has a year left on his contract, meaning that a deal could be done this summer.

We have reported previously that the Irons have an interest in signing Nayef Aguerd from Rennes but it may be that the potential deal for Milenkovic is seen as a back-up option.

Fiorentina aren’t minded to sell Milenkovic this summer unless they receive an offer they deem too good to turn down.

Would it be nice to think we would sign both Milenkovic and Aguerd. We would have the making of the best back 3 in the PL with Zouma. Milenkovic can also cover as a RB. That back 3 with Coufal (assuming he gets back to his brilliant best) and someone like Jack Harrson or Cornett as a wing back and we are now beginning to build a team.
