Report: Obiang interest from Roma

|

Pedro Obiang’s 24 Premier League games for the Irons since Manuel Pellegrini has been in charge look more and more likely to be his last.

With the club being anxious to ring the changes this summer as we push for the Europa League next season the midfielder looks set to add a useful £6m-£8m to the manager’s transfer pot.

According to Italian Daily Il Tempo, Roma have been keeping a close eye on the Spanish defensive midfielder, despite not being able to sign him during the winter window.

It has been reported that the Serie A side have been rekindling their interest into Obiang this summer, as they are trying to build their midfield into a solid force and Obiang could be a potentially good fit for the role.

Pedro built his name at Sampdoria before the Hammers signed him in 2015 and it looks increasingly he will be on his way from east London for Italy.

Obiang would certainly have been on his way last summer if he had had his way and was disappointed when a move fell through.

That happened as the club instead had chosen to sell Cheik Kouyate to Palace given the amount of agitation surrounding his position at the club.

Should have kept Fernandes, And sold obiang. Obiang has wanted to leave for 2 seasons. Now we have to replace 2 good aged central midfielders who were in contract(where we won’t even get 15m for both), with no decent transfer budget, for two central midfielders who will cost 40+million. Yet still stuck with the Two deadwood midfielders in Sanchez and wilshere. Please no more inferior/aged/injured cheapo players on large wages/contracts. We will never progress with that policy.
