Deadline day wouldn’t be the same without the speculation and rumours regarding incomings and departures: West Ham have left business until the last minute and incomings are expected to be confirmed a the club look to bolster their defence after the departures of El Hadji Malick Diouf and Jean Clair Todibo.
Whilst everything is strangely quiet on the Edson Alvarez saga today, there’s news of another West Ham player pushing for an exit but – so far – being denied by the club who, at this moment in the day, are intent on keeping him.
Magassa could still depart today
Reported by Jacob Steinberg on X, the news was broken earlier that:
“Soungoutou Magassa still looking for a way out of West Ham today. Crystal Palace interested in the midfielder but West Ham currently blocking a move.“
Magassa has been absent from pre-season and Nuno’s first match day squads this season and speculation was rife that the last of the ‘Potts, Magassa, Fernandes‘ dream team midfield assembled last season would be off before deadline day.
At present, he’s still a West Ham player.
But its early yet.
Dream team? I don’t remember reading that any time last season. This one passed me by, Martin.
Understand the sentiment though. Magassa might not be the perfect fit in our new look side without the other two of the ‘Terrific Trio’.
He’s young but he’s a JAG. If he doesn’t want to be here then we would be better off with someone else.
Glad Magassa staying, even if player not too pleased. On the other hand a lot more should be done by the club to get these young players of potential to progress. They hang around the 1st team but do not play and are not singled out for one-on-one training. Of course he wants to leave. I am amazed at the lack of club professionalism – I guess that is why keep repeating myself; I just do not understand what the club expects to happen.
I haven’t ever understood why we’d allow him to leave, even though it seems to be accepted that he will. He was inconsistent last season, for sure, but he showed loads of promise too. He was excellent at Old Trafford, literally everywhere and fully deserved his goal.
