Report: Rival Premier League club linked with Gomez bid

|

Defensor Sporting Club chief Ney Castillo has told the Tiempo de Fútbol on Sport 890 that Aston Villa want to sign West Ham transfer target Maxi Gomez.

“I have been called from Spain by Maxi Gómez, there is interest from Valencia and Aston Villa,” Castillo revealed to Sport 890.

If Villa really is interested in Gomez and managed to land him then it would be a huge slap in the face for West Ham.

Aston Villa are now owned by Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris, according to Forbes, the pair have more than £9 billion of wealth between them.

West Ham club insiders haven’t completely given up on signing Maxi Gomez this summer but refuse to pay the full release clause of £45m to seal the deal.

In recent days Valencia has shown serious interest too. It would be a massive statement of intent but possibly a gamble for Villa to spend £45m on Gomez.

It will be interesting to see what Villa and Sheffield Utd do, they have multi billions behind them but there is also FFP so spending will be complicated for them. Can anyone see us signing Gomez ?
