West Ham are interested in signing Fenerbahce captain Hasan Ali Kaldirim according to the BBC.
The BBC claim the Hammers have spoken to the player’s agent and the Turkey international Kaldirim is keen on a move to the Premier League. The left-back, who was linked with West Ham in 2017, has a 5m euro (£4.42m) release clause in his contract, which expires in 12 months’ time. Born in Germany, the 29-year-old has been at Fenerbahce since 2012, having previously played for Kayserispor.
Kaldirim has 30 international caps for Turkey and is the only Fenerbahce player in the national squad for this week’s Euro 2020 qualifiers against France and Iceland. He has scored five goals in 224 Super Lig appearances for Fenerbahce.
Claret and Hugh Opinion:
The BBC is not usually prone to the transfer rumour game but Claret and Hugh understood that the left back position was not a priority for Manual Pellegrini this season. Most reports that come out of Turkish are fanciful at best often driven by agents trying to get their clients a name.
Both Arthur Masusaku and Aaron Cresswell are unlikely to leave we have been told and so this report is a bit of a surprise. However, as always we will attempt to check this one out with our sources whether this one has any legs.
