Roberto: Let’s respond in the right way

Roberto has taken almost 100 per cent of the blame dished out by the fans which seems more than a bit unfair given the other issues within the team.

Ok, he’s  not a top tier keeper and has had a Hammers horror start leading to a confidence crisis but to pretend our back four was really tight and our midfield working well is to ignore some glaring facts.

The lack of pace in the midfield is a big issue as is the inability to create chances and take them and we haven’t ever looked great when confronted with real pace.

Sebastien Haller does what he does very well indeed but we need more pace and agility in every level of Premier League football and he seriously needs that partner we seem to be forever talking about.

But the the blame shouldn’t all be slapped at Roberto, he’s new to the squad, he has made mistakes but he shouldn’t be seen as the SOLE reason for our problems.

Roberto is clearly aware he is struggling in a big way and needs help from us because there are no alternatives and maybe we should listen to the boss when he declared today:  “Every player when they are in a bad moment needs the confidence of us behind them.

Roberto has a lot of experience in a lot of countries. He knows it’s not his best performance in the last game, but I think, all of us – the fans, the players and the staff – must trust in him.”

I applaud your misguided loyalty but sadly roberto shoumd be nowhere near a premier league squad i agree he is not the only problem

If. as a team, you have little confidence in your keeper that will always impinge on the way that you play. Our #2 is possibly the worst goalkeeper in the Prem this season.
So why not just carry on picking him, Im sure he’ll be better over time and once we get rid next year Im just as sure he’ll be a GREAT #2 for some Spanish second tier side.

The lack of pace in midfield has been with us for so long now I cant remember a player outside of Antonio thats got some. Bobby Barnes?

Haller looked superb last term in a three so obviously the best way to play him is on his own.

The buck has to stop with our manager and if he cant find the answers to his own problems . . . .
