Celta Vigo’s Maxi Gomez has not been entirely ruled out but at £43 million and with Arsenal interested, the Fulham and West Brom strikers look more likely options.
The energetic debate on the virtues of the two have been regularly debated on this site but it seems the Fulham man is a firm favourite among our followers as the best option.
Both players scored 11 Premier League goals – with Rondon on loan at Newcastle – last season but it’s the Serbian who came out on top in a ClaretandHugh poll.
With over 2,000 taking part Mitrovic collected 1,222 (59.73 pc) votes and Rondon 824 40.27pc.
To be honest I know he’s expensive but if we really want to improve pay the Gomez release clause & go all out for him. I think the others Mitrovic , Rondon will just keep us at the same level what’s the point show ambition & get Gomez . Surely the owners can see the better player Gomez should be our priority not cheaper options. Not good enough I want us to improve so get the better player.
Agree about Gomez, Rondon offers a lot more to the team than Mitrovic can in that he creates so many opportunities, he also his the woodwork 6 times last season so potentially could have had 15+ goals in a team that plays very defensively, I think get Gomez and Rondon if we can, then with Arnie as well and possibly keep Perez as a pure poacher we would have all bases covered in CF positions. For the price we will pay for Gomez we could probably get Duvan Zapatta who is a top class player and could fullfill the roles of both Rondon and Gomez combined.
