Irons set to play Sakho despite assault charges

|

sakho-diafra_3214372Diafra Sakho will retain his place in the Irons line-up against Leicester City at the weekend – despite his reported arrest for alleged assault.

The Senegalese striker is understood to be denying the allegations against him and the club will allow the legal proceedings to  take their normal course.

The 25-year-old  was reportedly arrested last Thursday, three days before West Ham’s shock 2-0 victory over Arsenal in the Premier League.

Police held the player on suspicion of attacking a girlfriend in east London.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Officers from Tower Hamlets have arrested a man on suspicion of common assault, criminal damage and malicious communication.

“The 25-year-old was arrested on Thursday 6 August at an address in Emerson Park, Hornchurch.

“He was taken to an east London police station and has been bailed to a date in late September.”

Thank god he can still play otherwise we would have no strikers. If the Hernandes deal has been blown out then we must spend £15m on Austin. Soon we will have no one but Maiga.
