Sanchez horror moment brings misery on misery

|

Irons 0 Wolves 1

Manuel Pellegrini doesn’t have an excuse left now after admitting he has assembled the squad  he wanted and wouldn’t add to it of he could!

As we sunk to a fourth straight defeat at the end of another lack lustre performance you start to wonder where this is going to end.

It is rapidly bringing back memories of Crystal Palace’s season last year when on Roy Hodgson’s arrival they went seven games without a PL goal.

We can only hope that like them we turn the corner very soon and start a run of games which sorts out our current woes which become increasingly worrying week on week.

That the Wolves goal should come in the third minute of extra time after Traore took full advantage of a Sanchez cock-up makes it so much worse.

But even before that we were second best with Felipe Anderson playing at walking pace, Jack Wilshere at something slower and Michail Antonio looking more like a man worrying about his hamstring than much else.

Wilshere was finally replaced by Pedro Obiang who if nothing else looked like he could cover the ground whilst Armolenko – who had come on at half time – for Snodgrass looks as if he should have nailed a place down in the team.

The upside – if we can cal it that – was the performance of Issa Diop who grew and grew, making some great interventions whilst his defensive partner Balbuena certainly looked calm and composed.

The Hammers had an amazing chance to take the lead near the end when Arnie slammed in a close range shot which laid out keeper Patricio after he had taken it full in the face.

But in the end there was only more bitter disappointment following Sanchez’s horror moment and now we have a two week wait when no doubt the misery and moans and groans will simply get louder and louder.

I am stunned to be honest although we didn’t deserve to win that result is ridiculous Wolves deserved nothing from the game either and must be wondering how they got 3 points. We controlled the match for the most part although they did miss an open goal… Sanchez was a horrible moment but he played well a lot better than Noble would have, the problem today was we created one chance in 95 minutes of football if Pellegrini is serious about attacking football he needs to have 3 or more players in the box every time a cross goes in, was disappointing the crowd tried harder but we lacked the killer pass again didn’t we ?

Very true that we don’t get people in the box when we are putting the ball in there. Last year Lanzini was doing that but Anderson roams too much.

Is anybody else missing David Moyes?.After last week weeks glimmer of hope at Arsenal i thought we would push on and get that 1st win.alas too many lacklustre players wearing the claret and blue again.Cannot see where the Pellegrini upturn is going to come from.Wilshere has been awful,Sanchez a mistake waiting to happen and the list goes on.Diop looks to be settling in but if Arnie is off it i worry who is going to wade in with a few goals. There are worrying comparisons to Palace last season as losing becomes a habit.

It was and is utter load of Poo . Why did we sack Moyes and sign nine players . ??

Let’s hear the excuses then …just booked a holiday rather than going to watch my yearly games ..absolutely rubbish.. Don’t care what people will say like we need time or any of that crap..you simply cannot loose at home to wolves and Bournemouth ..we really are a pathetic excuse for a team ..another horrid season on the way and I for one can’t waste my time in again…same rubbish different season..time for a bi t of distance from this u til our so called players show some heart

Sat on train waiting to go back home . Absolutely shocking. They mentioned at halftime about the walking football match played prior to the real match well it was if half that team were auditioning to play in it !!!.
There’s very little spark or pace.
Anderson is an absolute disgrace. Went hiding way too many times. At one stage was deeper than Cresswell for about 10 mins in the 2nd half.
    Antonio looks disinterested ….
Yarmalenko showed glimpses but looked very soft doesn’t look like hes going to be much use in mid winter away at Burnley.
Plus points were fabianski, Balbuena and Diop.
Can stomach defeat but to lose without breaking sweat or fighting is totally unacceptable.

Funny enough I agreed with the team completely, but our hang-over from midweek was somewhat worse than theirs. Anderson I suppose can only play one decent game per week.
Next game should see Yarmolenko start for whoever, and Wilshere is a serious doubt to keep his place from Noble. Other than that, we should play the same team. Diop and Balbuena will look better with every game, and Sanchez’s mistake should not stop him keeping his place in front of them. What worries me most now is the lack of cover for Arnie.
    Definitely still work in progress.

After one of our previous defeats I ventured the suggestion that Pellegrini is just a “name appointment” living on his reputation largely earned at Man C ; where he managed to get a team with all the very top players (who were there before he took over) to win the Premier League – in much the same way as Avram Grant’s achievement at Chelsea (in identical circumstances). After today’s performance, I am coming to believe that this is the case & that the man may just not have a clue about what he is doing & how to do it. I sincerely hope that I am wrong.

  • Hammer580 says:

Wilshire is a player living off of reputation alone. Any talent he had was left on the treatment table at Arsenal. He’s too lazy to run, he’s too slow when he does run and has no creativity in reading the game and making laying the ball on. Nobes is slow but at least he runs his heart out.

To all those who said last season ( myself included ) that Moyes should be given a chance to prove himself ,, sorry , it fell on deaf ears . It was exciting for a while seeing loads of new signings , but it has proven to be futile . Pelligrini just doesn’t seem to be cutting it . Moyes should have been given the opportunity to sign a few players . At this rate 13th seems a long way off and something of a dream . Shades of Palace last season but Palace didn’t make nine new signings costing near to £100m . We look awful and lost , and even worse than that we look clueless and lethargic . Nothing to even be optimistic about . Things will have to improve drastically if we want to avoid the threat of another relegation fight for a whole season .

I agree with all the walking comments but this is a process and personally I still have complete confidence in Pellegrini, where Sam or Moyes would have respected the point the team were in positions to try and push for the win even in late injury time, it is a gamble and we need those players to be creative which at the moment they are not consistently or yesterday at all but given time and Lanzini in the team I think we will be a different team, the plus points were Balbuena, Diop And Sanchez, Fabianski also made good saves but offensively there was absolutely zero and without the ball the team need a rocket up them. Triple training on sprints during the international break please !
