Scamacca agreement raises fears

|

By Simon Leyland

The Scamacca rumours are still not going away.

It appears that our struggling striker may be even nearer the exit door now having signed up to the CAA Stellar agency.

The former Sassuolo man has not only had his issues on the pitch but off it too with recurring injury troubles and having to leave his previous agency WSA due to a “lack of trust” in February

He has made just 11 starts in England’s top flight, scoring three goals and our supremo has been openly critical of him saying that his “physical data” (whatever that means….overweight?, out of puff?) was not at the level needed to start games.

The likes of Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan have all expressed interest in bringing him back to Italy. His new agency have a good reputation for helping their clients get big moves.

More to the point is, should we be even thinking about letting a no doubt talented footballer leave us after not even a year in England?

The Italian still has a lot to offer us and could turn out to be a future hero for the Hammers if he is given the time. But due to our current predicament at the wrong end of the table, I fear not.

Funnily enough, Scamacca’s national team manager Mancini was also quoted as saying that he felt that his “physical data” wasn’t good enough.
Let’s be honest here, for me he looks like he is becoming our new “sicknote”. He has the undoubted ability, but I haven’t seen enough of him through either sickness or injury to make a proper judgement of him.
I’m just not sure that this is the stick with which to beat Moyes.
In contrast, although Paqueta isn’t giving us totally what we expected, he cannot be faulted as he puts in a proper shift, whilst he is getting up to speed with the pace and style of the Premier League.
