Scamacca eyeing debut

|

Gianluca Scamacca could make his West Ham debut today.

The striker joined from Sassuolo earlier this week and has now been included in the squad for the final pre-season friendly against RC Lens ahead of the start of the Premier League campaign.

Scamacca scored 16 goals for Sassuolo last season, and he could now be included in the starting XI against the French side.

It would give boss David Moyes the chance to take a close look at the Italy international ahead of next weekend’s clash with Manchester City.

Thus far, the Irons have won two of their six pre-season friendlies, against Servette and Ipswich, and will be aiming to wrap up their preparation with a third victory.

The only known absentee from the squad is defender Nayef Aguerd, who is still on the treatment table after sustaining an ankle injury against Rangers in an earlier pre-season friendly.

Moyes is likely to play a strong team, as a result.
