Sensational Moyes bust-up claim

|

The Daily Mail and Daily Star are reporting a bust-up between David Moyes and Tim Steidten. The Star in particular have made a claim of a physical altercation between Moyes and the director of football.

I should state at this point, that personally I find the claim very difficult to believe. I’d certainly expect the article to be removed shortly, because it’s a very serious allegation.

Moyes bust-up has been sensationally claimed by the tabloids

The ‘row’ is believed to be a result of David Moyes frustration with West Ham’s refusal to purchase his transfer targets. The Scotsman had wanted to build a British spine with Scott McTominay, James Ward-Prowse and Harry Maguire his top targets.

Numerous reports suggest that Tim Steidten has thwarted the managers selections. This has resulted in a rift between the manager and David Sullivan (who is believed to be aligned with Steidten).

Whilst I struggle to believe the ‘fistycuffs’ aspect of the story, the remainder carries a whiff of truth. It is known that Steidten was recruited to hire younger more promising players. As a result, it’s safe to assume this is also the wish of the Hammers board.

The stand-off leaves Moyes completely isolated at West Ham. The Mail is also reporting that a list of managerial replacements has been collated.

Clearly Moyes has been made to look the villain of the piece. He’s far from my favourite manger, but surely he deserves better than this death of 1000 cuts. It appears the club have decided to not back the manager with transfers. So it’s puzzling to witness the charade of pretending to support him.

It’s impossible to know how much of this is true. However, with 8 days to go until the beginning of the Premier League season  . . . it’s a mess.

Agree a physical altercation is unlikely, think Moyes has been around the block enough to avoid that and lets be honest would anyone new to an organisation start a physical fight. Metaphorically can definitely see it happening, Moyes talked about the red bull model, Steidten seems to embody it but Moyes targets are all experienced pro’s rather than young hungry players so its easy to see how they could have differing views on strategy.

I have been wondering for a while whether Sullivan wants Moyes at the club. Maybe the fact that not a signing has walked through the door, is his way of getting Moyes to make the decision himself. Meanwhile, Sullivan has a Plan B that fits with Steidten. Is another manager already on the payroll, ready to step in and then all of a sudden, 4 new players get signed. I know it’s a bit far fetched, but………………..

Please sack the dinosaur now, before it’s too late, if it not already

I don’t know if Declan Rice’s comment about Mikel Arteta making him a better player ? And that his new manager wants him to play a ‘different style’ were lost on most hammers fans? But, it does point to him being unhappy with the way his last manager was running the team.

hammersob here is hoping you are right. Everyone on their knees and start praying he is. Gosh the floor is hard.

  • Austrick says:

If it came to fisticuffs my money would be on Moyes. Knockout in the first round.
Joking apart, if I were Moyes I’d’ve walked by now. But where would he go? Who’d have him? Plus there’s the fact that he’d get no compensation so he’d be waiting for the sack $$$.
Must admit it does sound like some typical owners- let the underlings fight it out and see who comes out on top.

  • Hammers in the blood 1 says:

Look the lack of signings is a joke , Sullivan also needs to be part of the solution . We need to recruit so he’s the man in control . I am also seeing low ball offers we will never sign anyone like that . Doesn’t matter what the mail say it’s a narrative it sells stories !

  • exsoulie says:

Chelsea sacked Tommy T after winning the CL and thats what we should have done with DM.Winning that cup was nice but watching our league games was not.DS has not a clue how to take this club foward and has wasted a fortune on Moyesball and it looks like nothing will change.Lingard was his hearts desire and now he wants a class A donkey.Sully, please sell the club.

  • geefunkhammer says:

Something has to give but if this was the road Sullivan wanted to go down, he should have grown a pair and sacked Moyes at the end of last season so a new manager got his transfers, and had a pre-season. I don’t blame Moyes for anything here. He’s just sticking to his guns, wanting players he believes in and is being completely undermined. He’s now even money as first sacking of the season.

  • Budgie says:

With all this nonsense going on the club need to make a statement in support of the current arrangement for management and recruitment. If not then speculation will intensify which is not good for anyone.

  • Buster says:

I don’t believe an ounce of it…….. the fact that the sources are the Mail and the Daily Star indicate the inauthenticity of the reporting.
The men in question are mature professionals who would surely express their differences behind closed doors in private.
