So tricky but here’s a likely Irons team v Liverpool

Edmilson Fernandes may be the man to solve the right sided problem.

It’s never the  simplest job in the world picking a Slaven Bilic line-up but this week it’s probably more complicated than ever before.

With so many injuries intervening, we are really stretched on the right side where there is no natural width with  Zaba, Byram and Antonio unavailable.

I can only find 16 realistic names for a squad of 18 and should we suffer any further injuries at the back during the game, just pray because the only defender likely to be on the bench is Arthur Masuaku.

My squad members are: Hart, Adrian, Reid, Rice, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Masuaku, Kouyate, Noble, Obiang, Arnautovic, Ayew, Fernandes, Chicharito, Lanzini, and Carroll. Expect Quina and Haksabanovich to perhaps be included.

Sakho may get a place but that leads us totally overloaded with strikers so who the final two will be is anybody’s guess.

The manager has talked up the Andy Carroll Factor in his pre-match presser claiming that given the high line Liverpool hold, the big fella can hurt them at the back where they can be vulnerable.

However, given that it’s been Ayew and Hernandez who have been among the goals I reckon those two will start with Carroll coming on at some point.

It’s complicated but after screwing my brain for a couple of hours this is the team I see starting but I’m sure the manager will probably have other ideas.

CandH team: (5-2-1-2) Hart; Fernandes, Reid, Rice,Ogbonna, Cresswell; Noble, Kouyate; Lanzini; Chicharito, Ayew.

Bench: Adrian, Masuaku, Obiang, Arnautovich, Carroll, Haksabanovich, Quina

Like your player selection, Hugh, although I’d start the game with Obiang in place of Noble.
I feel that the use of a 5-man back-line may be a bit too defensive, leaving our midfield a bit thin.
I’d prefer a 3-5-2, with Hart; Rice, Reid, Ogbonna: Fernandes, Kouyate, Lanzini, Obiang, Cresswell; Ayew, Chicharito.

    Ayew Chicharito
    Lanzini
    Cressie Obiang Kouyate Fernandes
    Oggie Reid Rice

I don’t think that matters max ,Fernandez and cresswell will bomb on giving us 4/5
    In m/f !
They just need to press and knock their tabs out !! Graft and work in 3,s , if we can out press their forward press it will leave them having to chase back but we need pace and penatration , quick passing , not the 3/4/5 touch crap 1/2 touch and loads of movement ! But we ain’t fit enough so it don’t matter anyway ,/ we need Arnie to play and pull his finger out ffs , that might help us out ?😉
