Alex Song may be coming close to pricing himself out of a permanent switch to West Ham.

The midfielder – still recovering from an ankle operation – is understood to want in the region of £80k a week to become a full time Iron.

And he is also seeking a three year deal whilst the club are looking at two years if and when he proves he is fully recovered.

The current assessment is that Song will not be ready to play football by November the earliest and the club is now refusing to be rushed into a deal.

A source said told ClaretandHugh exclusively: “He is a big earner is  Alex Song but for the sort of money he wants – around £80k a week – he would need to be in tip top order. That’s not the case at this stage.

“He would prefer a three year deal but we are looking at two. There’s some way to go on this one – too many imponderables at this stage.”

Better leave it until January, he’s currently injured, if we sign him he’s just pocketing money without working on the pitch. With our injury jinx, better be safe than adventurous with an injured player.

He won’t wait till January, someone else will snap him up. Sign him up now or lose him for good, his wages are quite high but that’s the price of good premier League players these days. Also your getting a £15m player for free & he will have sell on value in 2 years time

Smaller clubs than us are willing to pay bigger wages, Swansea just paid £125,000 a week to that new fella we wouldn’t go above 80k – with the bigger TV deal rapidly approaching & the OS cash cow arriving at the same time I really think we can up our transfer fees & wages

Those were the terms 2 months ago and have not changed,we’re now looking at an old man from Ireland ( no disrespect mate ) probably about 250,00k and £10 k a week we will be told he is the next Messi as usual,
Getting used to being the pound shop but think we are only the 99p shop ,
What about offering Song a part in the next film,Kray,s 2 the African adventure,
Or 2 free seats at OS because if we don’t spend money there be plenty of spare one,s
