Song happy with Sunderland point

|

SongyAlex Song was more than happy to come away from Sunderland with the point which kept us in fourth place.

The on-loan Barcelona star battled it out with goalscorer Stewart Downing for the man of the match award and then declared: “”I think it is a good point – it is never easy when you go to play Sunderland.”

Speaking to www.whufc.com he added: “We conceded the first goal, but then scored ourselves and managed the game well. We had opportunities to score more, but it didn’t come.

“It’s good to not lose, you can see the good spirit and we have to focus on the way we are playing.”

The penalty award, for a James Tomkins foul on Adam Johnson, looked harsh on the Hammers’ No5 and Song said: ” I don’t think it was a penalty. I will have to see it again, but it was a difficult one.

“The team has character and everyone is happy to come away on Saturday having not lost. We want to stay in the top four, so it’s very important to not lose.”
