West Ham are poised to complete the signing of Adama Traore from Middlesbrough in a £8m deal.
David Sullivan is reported to have held talks with the 21-year-old winger on Friday according to the well placed Ken Dyer of the London Evening Standard and says the transfer could be completed soon pending a medical.
Traore started his career at Barcelona’s academy but failed to break through into the first team later joining Aston Villa for £8m in 2015.
Following Villa’s relegation, he joined Middlesbrough at the start of last season again for a reported £8m.
It appears he could be about to move for the third time for £8m, if true let’s hope history doesn’t repeat itself by getting himself relegated for the third time with a Premier League team.
Last week we were told by a senior club source that the priority remains two strikers but there was room for a speedy winger if one became available.
Our source said at the time: “There’s no other business in mind although were a speedy winger to become available that may be of some interest to us.”
Antonio built his reputation at Wolves playing mostly on the left wing. On the subject of Bats, i seriously doubt he would want to come to us.
Personally I think he is worth a shout at 8m but I would also loke to see this young Nigerian lad signed up. Then go for a top striker like Bats.
So let me get this right then.Anyone you dont really fancy is a Sully pick. How about the fact that Bilic liked the look of him when he played against us.
It creases me up when i read how often any unsucessfull players we buy get labelled as sully signings or sully punts.
so right . the rule just doesn’t apply anymore than when Allerdyce was here. Then all bad signings were Sams and all good ones were from the cheif scout. That was utter tosh as well.
Bilic signed his great favorite Gökhan Töre not Sully, so it’s worth these people remembering that.
At the moment its all speculation and paper talk so i won’t be getting steamed up just yet.
Based on his history he will be an option from the bench not a first team player. I may be wrong but I have a feeling he is one of Sullivan’s punts rather than a Bilic pick
If we do have the money for a speedy midfielder should it not have been a left sided player at least.Henry Onyekuru would have been a cheaper better alternative. But this should be secondary to filling the forward positions. COYI
I hope we are still trying to sign Onyakuru,as fast and tricky as Traore is he is not a goal scorer.
not sure about traore.
Even his U-Tube don’t look so good. He also doesn’t score goals.
I suppose at only 21 there is time to work with him, and perhaps we could find something nobody else has found. Perhaps for £8 mil, it’s worth a try.
He got relegated with Villa and Middlesborough, so I really hope it’s third time lucky.
Does this mean we don’t need Onyakuru any more?
Two strikers sufficient? Hardly!
If Traore passes his medical, we might live to regret not giving him a contract
