Supporters decide who should captain Hammers

|

Nearly 67.5% of Claret and Hugh readers think Declan Rice should take over as West Ham captain for the remainder of the 2019/2020 season. Just over 32.5% wanted to stick with Mark Noble despite.

Nearly 900 supporters voted in the Claret and Hugh poll and the majority were prepared to show faith in a 21-year-old defensive midfielder. Rice has been West Ham’s most consistent performer since football has returned last weekend.

He has been awarded both Claret and Hugh man of the match awards and received praise from pundits and supporters alike.

Noble has fared less well in both games scoring badly in player ratings with many supporters suggesting he is struggling with two games in four days and worried about the 33-year-old’s pace.

David Moyes rewarded Rice at the Crystal Palace practice game with the captain’s armband for 90 minutes while Noble was forced to sit on the bench at the London Stadium.

There is no doubt both players are great leaders on the pitch and both play with passion and determination for the West Ham badge but maybe it is time for change.
