Fabian Balbuena is the surprise choice for West Ham captain if Mark Noble is not available this season as skipper.
With nearly 1,000 Claret and Hugh readers voting over 30.5 per cent want Fabian Balbuena aka the general as their future regular captain. Hammer of the year Fabianski was in second place with over 24.5 per cent of the vote followed by youngster Declan Rice with 21.5 per cent
Boyhood West Ham fan Jack Wilshere was fourth-placed with nearly 13 per cent of votes.
Others including Issa Diop 3%, Aaron Cresswell and Manuel Lanzini under two per cent each, Seb Haller, Felipe Anderson, Michail Antonio, Pablo Fornals and Ryan Fredericks were all had less than one per cent each. Others outside of these names were also less than two per cent.

Good choices, shows MP’s picks are more popular than our former managers also. Personally would give it to Rice but also happy with Balbuena or Fab. Having seen the City capitulation suspect Noble will be playing more often than had been anticipated during preseason. Wilshere needs to add the bite in midfield he showed as a teenager otherwise he is a highly skilled luxury player.
