The £1.3m pound striker gamble

|

emenikeSo we finally got our man, Mr Emmanuel Emenike, although it feels like an anti climax this morning.  We reportedly paid a £760,000 loan fee, together with his wages thought to be £36,000 per week plus a £9,500 per match appearance bonus!! With 15 weeks of the season remaining that’s an investment of £540,000 in wages even if he doesn’t play which is £1.3m in total.

David Gold has confirmed on twitter that Andy Carroll, Manuel Lanzini and Diafra Sakho should all be fit enough to play some part in the Liverpool FA Cup replay on Tuesday 9th February which asks the important question when exactly is Emenike going to play?

He was not registered in time to be available for the Aston Villa match tomorrow night because he lacked international clearance and so the Southampton away game on Saturday might be his only real opportunity to impress. He is also ineligible for the FA Cup replay the following Tuesday.

Let’s just hope he doesn’t just feature in only one game! At £1.3m for one match he would rival Kieron Dyer for value for money in a West Ham shirt.

Don’t think it’s a gamble considering all injury problems we’ve experienced recently. We need a backup for Sak/Carroll. And if we are to progress in FA cup that buy could prove to be quite reasonable.

why is he ineligible for the FA Cup? cup tied?

With news that the return of Diafra and AC and Lanzini is very soon,MnM will have to hit the ground running. But knowing our luck with injurys, that expensive loan gives us back up.
