One long term target who West Ham were reportedly interested in during the earlier part of the transfer window has sadly been priced out of a move to east London, it would seem.
Franculino Dju, a Guinea-Bissau international has attracted wide spread interest.
Over recent years, FC Midtjylland have previously turned down a permanent offer from Spanish side Villarreal, reported to be worth around £17m and also knocked back a loan with an option offer from German giants, Bayern Munich. While a bid believed to be in the region of €25m was also rejected from an unamed Saudi Pro league club.
Aged just 22, the prolific forward has scored 58 goals in 116 appearances with 15 assists since joining the Danish team on a free transfer from Benfica in July 2023. While at Benfica he never featured for the first team, yet impressed at u-23 level with 13 goals and 2 assists in 16 matches.
With a contract running until December 2029, his injury history has caused some concerns having missed 18 games last season, and 11 the season before.
As such his club are believed to now be open to accepting bids in excess of £22m (roughly €25m+).
West Ham cannot afford the modest price of €25 million for a top quality striker, despite banking nearly £200m
C&H revealed in early August that the player had been offered to West Ham, with the deal hinging on a non‑promotion clause being added to his contract. At that stage, West Ham are understood to have backed away partly due to concerns over his injury record, and partly because their focus had shifted toward Troy Parrott, who was deemed to be too expensive.
Fast forward to now, and the picture is even starker. Despite generating £200m+ in outgoing transfers, West Ham find themselves in a position where they simply cannot afford the striker.
It’s a brutal reminder that the clubs financial losses are largely being covered by player sales leaving very little to spend on new additions.
Watched him live in Ireland in European qualifier v Bohemians. Was decent but nothing special against really poor opposition

If my memory serves me well this player had a bad injury two season ago that stopped us buying him then. So why pay good money for a potentially risky purchase ?
The Parrott thing was very shortsighted but now I don’t think that another striker is our main priority. In theory now we have sold Diouf we should have the funds to get Austbo and Harwood Bellis but it will be interesting to see whether we infact settle for a few cheap deals that are probably good enough for a promotion push but will not benefit us much if we do make if back.
Tell me if i’m wrong please. but i thought the whole idea of selling all our best players and a lot more besides, was 2 rebuild our squad and bring players in. ???
