So Dimi Payet has been sold for an initial transfer fee of £25m but before we start to spend the cash it worth pointing out that the payments from Marselle are probably staggered over three years.
That’s the same as approach as when we purchased Dimi in 2015 for £10.7m. In fact it is believed we still owe Marseille several million pounds from the original deal which will now be offset against today’s sale.
Marseille will probably make a down payment of £8.3m with the same amount due in one year’s and two years time. This is the way business is done in modern football and the Fonte and Snodgrass are most likely structured in the same way with staggered payments to Southampton and Hull.
In the last set of West Ham financial accounts published in 2016 for 2015 the Hammers owed more than £23m to other clubs in staggered transfer fees and this is likely to grow when new accounts are released next month.
On the top of the £25m transfer fee, there is thought to be up to £5m of potential add-ons but equally the 25% sell on fee could bring in a similar amount so the amount could equally reach £30m.
West Ham have reportedly asked for the return of a one million loyalty bonus which could bring the total £31m.
West Ham will also save up to £29m in wages over the four and a half years that it would have paid Payet. These wages can now be re-invested elsewhere and are likely to fund two possibly three players for the same budget.
£60m deal? Come on now, let’s not pretend this is something it’s not. Ultimately Marseille have outmanoeuvred Sullivan here, and they have got themselves a great deal. Sullivan supposedly said Real Madrid offered £50m in the summer and now 6 months later he’s got half that.
I think the new TV money, not to mention the additional revenues from the new stadium, will result in the financial records looking very healthy next month. Sure we may have additional liabilities from player purchases, but when you take into account the money that will come into the club over the life of the agreements, Sullivan, Gold and Brady will be rubbing their greedy little hands together.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the reason they’ve delayed publishing the records until February is because they know that fans would have expected them to spend more this window had they published them before like they usually do. 18th richest club in the world, remember. That’s not in the future, but now. They’ve made no secret about modelling the club on Arsenal and no doubt they will be pocketing a huge chunk of change whilst telling supporters how we should be so grateful like Stan Kroenke.
I think we might be seeing a few more of those tasteful Rollers knocking about.
Bit difficult when the books released next month are based on last season.
I think that the ‘new tv money’ is payable at the end of the current season.
Whu647580 aren’t you the fella that claims the club are skint? Administration is normally follows skint in my world so are you suggesting we will be duducted 15 points and that relegation will follow?
Aright John, there’s skint and there’s skint. Ha ha, Where have I ever suggested Administration and 15 point deduction? Skint is when you don’t have money now, debts you can’t pay any longer, that could lead you to Administration, which I doubt is our problem. The club has had to rob Peter to pay Paul for a number of years, hence the Payday loans. It’s okay they’re getting it in a better place, it just takes time.
The books will be out soon enough and all will be revealed. We almost certainly made a loss last season. The poster above is implying that SUGO will be benefiting personally from these transactions, now I’m not a great fan of them, but I don’t think they’re doing anything like that. He also thinks that this seasons financials (LS revenue & big TV money) are about to be published in Feb, bit difficult when the season doesn’t end until May. 18th richest club in the world, not really. 18th highest Income maybe.
🙂
So in the current sky sports goal of the year competition who we voting for mitri Payet v Middlesbrough or Andy Carroll v Crystal Palace? Hmm. Might have been a tough call once upon a time.
It’s hardly a 60 million pound deal is it?
PS: My 11 year old son wants to know how he can remove the ” 27 Payet” from last years home shirt, any ideas??
