The big moments of David Martin’s debut

|

Danny Leach keeps an eye on the man who help bring some confidence back to the Hammers and comes up with three big moments.

7 – Collects a shot by Mount fired directly to him

41 – Saves Kovacic’s shot to the near post and is quick to stop the rebound too

90 – Involved in a heavy collision as he comes out for a corner leaving him dazed. However he stays on to finish the match and is in tears at the end!

Verdict – 6 It was a joy to see Martin on his Premier League debut get a clean sheet and help the Hammers to get a first win in over two months. He played a part in bringing back confidence in this team as the players huddled around him at the final whistle leaving him in tears and showing what a big impact the goal keeper can have on a team. Such was the Hammers dominance and Chelsea’s weak display he was never really tested apart from a couple of easy shots. However he did the basics right and appeared composed throughout the match unlike his other teammate between the sticks. This can hopefully be the start of a run in the team for him while Fabianski remains injured.
