West Ham’s ticket trader or ticket exchange as it now called has been launched for the Sunderland match next Saturday.
The new Ticket Master scheme was supposed to launched at the start of the Premier League season but a variety of technical and safety issues have prevented the official launch until now. The club has been economical with the details of how the scheme works so we decided to check it out to understand ourselves.
It is estimated that up to 10% of season ticket holders, in excess of 5,000 supporters have been missing from some Premier League games as have been noted by the empty seats and this system will allow them to sell their tickets to others.
The scheme allows season ticket holders to get 90% of the value of that game back as an E-credit while the club take a 10% admin fee and then sell the ticket at the general price for the match. The problem is, it is not obvious to season ticket holders what the value of each category of matches is to make up their season ticket total of 19 matches.
For the Sunderland match the resale value for my band 3 ticket is showing as £24.48 which I assume is the 90% so it means my band 3 ticket for Sunderland is really £27.20 and the club take an admin fee of £2.72. As Sunderland is Cat B game the club will attempt re-sell this ticket to an adult for £40 meaning would make £15.52 markup from buying the ticket back at £24.48.
For junior tickets the buy back is much lower. I was offered £2.85 for my son’s ticket for Sunderland. Again the club could resell this seat to an adult for a mark up of £37.15 plus booking fees of course of £1 for claret members.
The club will offer you £20.39 for an adult band 4 season ticket for Sunderland but they are happy to re-sell it for £40 plus booking fees allowing for a mark up of £19.61 per band 4 adult seat.
If you are a 1966, band1, band2 or band5 season ticket holder we are interested to know what the resale price of your season tickets are for the Sunderland game as the club seem to be keeping this information a secret at the moment. You won’t have to go through with the sale of your ticket but it should give you the amount you would receive before confirming.
Thanks if you check your account history it should tell you the exact amount.
Sold my Band 2 seat today. Site had ticket valued at £45 and I’ve had about £33-34 credited to my account. The kids’ seat went for £2.93 i think!
