Tomkins explains Norwich problems

|

James-Tomkins_3236381James Tomkins has given a pretty  good explanation of the Irons performance against yesterday reminding fans that following the Manchester City epic, the team  had played 120 minutes in  hard fought Capital One Cup clash at Leicester.

The big defender was again very impressing yesterday and said:  “They put us under a lot of pressure towards the end of the second half.

He told www.whufc.com: “They started a lot brighter than us too and got their goals, so we’re quite happy to come away with a point even though we obviously wanted three points at the start of the game.

“A lot of us were quite heavy-legged having played extra time in the game in midweek. That took it’s toll on us and we didn’t start the game well. The crowd got behind us and things got easier for us.

“We put pressure on them in the second part of the first half and wanted to go out in the second half as we ended the first. I think we did that but didn’t get the goal.

“They’ve then scored with a great finish from Redmond and we showed a lot of team spirit to come back with a last-minute goal.”

Umm – well Norwich played on Wednesday night and had even less time to recover but no extra time – West Ham were definitely heavy-legged, particularly Noble and Jenkinson.

A lack of fitness may account for the lacklustre display – a pretty weak excuse though!

It’s back to Hippo and his excuses, why are players so tired compared to everyone,s else’s do we play up hill and everyone else plays down hill,
Maybe Tomks need a rest if it’s him talking I am sure Ginge or Oxford would be gale of his position,
Noble and Jenkinson are making mistakes because they are under pressure to keep their places as they do not have the ability of other squad members,
Redmond has the speed to upset any defence without being given a present

I agree with Tomkins , it was a draining game against Leicester and if you want proof look at what happened to the Foxes on Saturday ! Does any one else end up feeling slightly guilty at snatching a late point yesterday ?Not sure why i should feel that way as the Spuds have made a career out of late winners and equalisers over the past few seasons , often against us , and pundits don’t think the worse of them . Getting the rub of the green takes a bit of getting used to when your’e not used to it ! COYI

Norwich only had two players in their starting line up yesterday that started midweek.aint a surprise the majority of their players were fresher. We had a physically & mentally draining match at Citeh last Saturday evening then ET at Leicester.I know its early in the season & they shouldnt be shattered but you only need to be off the pace a couple of % in the Premier & other teams will capitalize.I have never seen the big deal in a player saying they were a bit leggy or tired, they aint robots & it aint just our players mention it,you will see other teams players say it as well.Anyway we are third in the league, not bottom ffs 😉
