West Ham are believed to have undergone an 11th hour change of heart over a planned transfer which had come in for a fair amount of criticism: Cold Feet would seem to sum up the Irons’ latest transfer ‘U’ turn, after the two clubs involved had agreed terms for the deal.
In need of recruits for the Championship campaign which kicks off on Sunday, West Ham had, it seems, an agreement just about done (as we reported, 90% done) with Arsenal to bring winger Reiss Nelson to the London Stadium but in a dramatic change of heart, according to our transfer source, have now backed away from the deal:
“West Ham got cold feet, most likely owing to the player’s injury record, and have backed away”
…Was the response from our transfer source, outside the club itself but close to several key West Ham players, when we asked about the Reiss Nelson transfer.
This following our earlier article highlighting his poor injury record over eight seasons at Arsenal which has resulted in just fifteen Premier League starts and no less than four loan spells away from the club to try and kickstart his career.
