Trevor Sinclair claims he’s one of the best Hammers

|

Trevor Sinclair has named seven of his ex West Ham players in a best ever starting XI.

And I suppose it’s not surprising that he includes himself among the legends – Mr Sinclair has never been slow to ensure a discussion!.

Trevor is a very regular and outspoken pundit these days and is quite ready to discuss the good and bad as he sees it of West Ham United.

It’s  always easy to disagree but whether he should should NOT be in there is a topic which will no doubt occupy the thoughts of fans..

He retains a close relationship with the club via his work with talkSPORT and in fairness makes sure he does what everything required of a pundit in often being as controversial as possible.

After five years  with the Hammers, from 1998 to 2003, 177 games and 37 goals before moving on to Man City he became a hugely popular figure of course..

He picked out his best starting XI in which SEVEN of them are from West Ham including himself.

They are David James, Rio Ferdinand, Marc Vivien Foe (RIP), Michael Carrick, Eyal Berkovic and Paolo Di Canio.

Some eyes may be raised by the omission of the likes of Joe Cole, Frank Lampard and Jermain Defoe.

However, that’s Trevor for you – as controversial as it gets and no doubt there will be as many disagreeing as accept what he has to say.

Give us your Hammers magnificent seven!

David james??? Wot a clown he was..

Trevor Sinclair was a great servant to West Ham and a brilliantly gifted footballer with the ability to score the type of goal that most other players can only dream of scoring.
It seems the only people who have forgotten (or chosen to forget) about his talents and what he did for West Ham as a player is the Claret & Hugh writers.

    • nONSENSE OF COURSE – READ THE ARTICLE

With all respect, It’s not nonsense Hugh. This is the second article Claret and Hugh have put out recently that aims a dig at Trevor Sinclair ( the previous one was by Sean Whetstone). In my opinion I don’t think that a former players contribution should be belittled or overlooked due to his comments as a football pundit. I have always found Trevor Sinclair’s comments to be quite supportive of the club (maybe not the board), aside from his recent comments regarding us not buying a striker in January and not understanding the Jessie Lingard Loan. I thought that was disrespectful to David Moyes and he team. But none of that changes my view of him as a player.

        • If you read it I have said not a word against him. As far as his opinion here is concerned to leave out the likes of Bobby Moore Trevor Brooking , Lampard, Bonds etc seems odd. I have no view on Sinclair other than he was decent as a player. I’ll reserve judgement on him as an individual. I think it’s reasonable – if he chooses to regularly make comments about his former club – to have an opinion on what he said is allowable.

Classic punditry on the part of Sinclair – a mix of limited intelligence, limited knowledge of history and massive ego. There are only one or two good pundits around. Sinclair’s not one of them.

Poor punditry, along with agents, ‘look at me’ refereeing and, more recently, VAR, is one of the unwanted – by me, anyway – features of football in the Sky/PL era. It’s also why televised football is better enjoyed with the sound turned off these days. Unfortunately, doesn’t work quite so well with the radio coverage!

I much preferred it when players retired to run pubs/sports shops/sweet shops, sometimes after failing as managers, rather than desperately trying to continue to rinse football for cash by embarking on media careers.

Given that he left out Defoe for the legend that is Les Ferdinand I think we can forgive him. Also he was part of the relegated team with Sinclair so should be included in the list, no? Admittedly he was past his best and was much better when they played together at QPR but still…

The other non-hammers are Richard Dunne (pretty solid and always good for an OG or red card), Ashley Cole, and David Barnsley. All defenders. I guess that goes someway to explain how we got relegated 😂
