Two Hammers in TOTW

|

Both Craig Dawson and Aaron Cresswell made it into the BBC Sport Team of the Week after the Hammers beat Everton 2-1 at the London Stadium on Sunday.

The Irons were well on top throughout the game against Frank Lampard’s strugglers and were good value for all three points.

Cresswell scored the first goal of the game with a brilliant curling free-kick that nestled in the top corner, before Jarrod Bowen added a second after Ben Godfrey’s deflected equaliser.

Dawson turned in a solid performance in the heart of the defence as the Irons stood firm to take all three points and climb back into the top six.

It is perhaps harsh on Kurt Zouma that he did not make the cut, too, as he was also sensational in central defence.

The rest of the team, picked by Garth Crooks, was made up of some familiar names.

In goal, Wolves ‘keeper Jose Sa got the nod, while Liverpool’s Joe Gomez and Spurs’ Cristian Romero joined Daws and Cresswell.

Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse, Brentford’s Christian Eriksen and Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne made up the midfield, with Eriksen’s team-mate Vitaly Janelt, Spurs’ Harry Kane and City’s Raheem Sterling the front three.
