West Ham 1-0 Man U: Player ratings

West Ham 1-0 Man U

Fabianski:8 Hardly anything to do in the first half and was well protected. But denied Rashford with 15 mins remaining and a vital block to stop Martial during injury time.

Kehrer:8 Handled Fernandez incredibly well in the first half. Given more of a test in the second half with Martial & Rashford. Seemed to enjoy the rapport with the fans at The London Stadium.

Aguerd:8 Read the game well and looked alert to danger. Dealt with everything Manchester United threw at him.

Ogbonna:8 A magnet for the ball with numerous headed clearances. Vital tackle on Casemiro.

Cresswell:7 Wasted and excellent crossing opportunity as West Ham attacked early and did the same in the second half as The Hammers piled on the pressure.

Rice:8 Loves playing against the big teams, had to spend large parts of the game trying to break up the opposition’s attacks. Really strutted his stuff in the second half.

Soucek:6 I thought he looked very tired but still managed to make his usual blocks and tackles. Had a goal disallowed for offside. Had a nasty clash of heads.

Paqueta:7 Took a while to find his passing range with almost nothing coming off. Found his radar in the second half and created a nice chance for Soucek. Produced and exquisite piece of skill in the second half.

Bowen:6 Seemed to lack a bit of spark at the start of the game which matched the team’s lethargy. Produced a wonderful piece of defending when he tacked back late in the first half. Worked hard but not really too involved.

Benrahma:8 Put West Ham 1-0 up completely against the run of play. Benrahma was surrounded by Manchester United defenders yet somehow managed to squeeze out a weak shot which David De Gea completely failed to stop, Should have been awarded a penalty when his cross was stopped by a handball. I thought he got the better of Wan Bissaka who is a very good defender.

Said Benrahma scored a goal for West Ham against Manchester United at The London Stadium.

Antonio:7 Sometimes unplayable and sometimes clumsy. I wasn’t sure whether Antonio was going to fall over or go on an unstoppable dribble. He certainly gave the Manchester United defenders a tough game. Ran his socks off for the cause.

Fornals: 86th min sub for the excellent Benrahma.

Downes: Injury time sub for Paqueta

Johnson: On for Antonio

Emerson: 97th min sub for Cresswell.

Superb performance by the team My only comment about the ratings is that I thought the best player on the pitch was Paqueta. We can build a serious team around him even if Rice leaves. He was superb tonight.
