razilian left-back Filipe Luis is set to leave Atletico Madrid on a free transfer this summer when his contract expires, report Diario AS.
The 33-year-old is out of contract and has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona to provide back-up for Jordi Alba but may listen to other offers if he thinks he can get more game time.
A fortnight ago, the Brazilian defender told reporters: “I hope I can continue next season, I want to and I already made it clear. I want to continue here. club, I want to stay but it’s in the hands of the club. I’m enjoying the games that remain and hopefully, I can convince them that I can stay. It depends on the club.”
The left-back started his career at Brazilian side Figueirense before moving to European football with a switch to Ajax in 2004 and has also enjoyed stints at Deportivo La Coruna and Chelsea. Manuel Pellegrini is reportedly looking for a left back this summer with the jury still out on both Aaron Cresswell and the defensive form of Arthur Masuaku.
Pablo Zabaleta has proved that veteran defenders can still cut it in the Premier League.
Figured we would get linked with Luis. He has been great in LA Liga but will be 34 by start of next season. With Cresswell getting older & injuries & Masuakj doin well last couple games but usually defensively foes missing. Think better to get a LB with years to go.

No got to stop buying old players need to build for the future but have players that are ready now. Want players that fight for every game players with ambition.
