Overall the Hammers were ranked 28th from all 92 clubs in all four divisions.

Kevin Rye is the founder of Fan Insights is the founder of the Fan Engagement Index.

He says “The relationship between clubs and their fans is ill-defined, and described in so many different ways with varying terminology. Secondly, leadership and best practice in Fan Engagement isn’t visible enough, and as an industry, we need to be able to see in practical terms what works across the game, and at clubs of every type. The Fan Engagement Index will help us to define, measure, showcase and improve Fan Engagement in football in a way that will benefit us all.”

Kevin was part of the story of Wimbledon as both a fan in its most famous playing era, and then as an activist working to save and then reform the club in 2001/2002 as AFC Wimbledon. He spent eleven-years at Supporters Direct, with his final role as Head of Policy and PR, and has been a Fan Engagement consultant since 2015. He has extensive experience in strategic communications, campaign strategy, public affairs, publicity and social media strategy.

Kevin’s first sentence is enough of a reason to disregard these so called rankings.
I think we are all aware that the relationship between West Ham and it’s fan base is probably the most fractured and openly hostile of any club.

Yes, I’d have thought the relationship between the Club and it’s Punters was one of the most *****ly and awkward ones around – maybe I’m out of touch – surely not! 🤨
