West Ham transfer business getting nowhere fast

|

West Ham are struggling to get any further signings over the line today with a little over twenty four hours until the January transfer window shuts.

Claret and Hugh understands that no signing is currently imminent and in all likelihood no further incoming signings will be completed in time.

Multiple sources have confirmed the worrying news with a senior club source telling C&H via email this afternoon “We are getting nowhere but lots of bids out there”

David Moyes is looking for a right back and a striker but has admitted it is difficult to get good quality and doesn’t want to just sign anyone to make up the numbers.

Ryan Fredericks is expected to make a return very soon and it is hoped that Ben Johnson is also on the road to recovery.

Jeremy Ngakia also showed he is an option after his debut against Liverpool.

Ablian Ajeti is unlikely to be sold and Xande Silva is returning from injury and about to feature for the U23’s.

Took 6 weeks too long to sack Pelli and 4 weeks too long to get these so called bids in.
Obviously I hope we stay up but Sullivan and Brady don’t deserve it.

  • James Gunn says:

Imagine if we had competent owners who realised our weaknesses BEFORE fan + media pressure forced them to act. If we go down, it’s 100% on them.

    • Alexander Paul Kendall says:

You get what you put in and deserve, thanks for killing West Ham. Next level my arse.

    • Hammero says:

If Mòyes cannot find a better right back than Fredericks, Zaba and a 19 year old with one appearance, what has he been doing for 5 weeks

    • Flip Gonzalaz says:

Cue the we tried drivel every year same excusses
Same outcome i can guarantee if no one else is signed things will get alot more hostil towards the board and it will be well deserved.

  • Tom Sheppard says:

That’s unacceptable. If we don’t sign a goalscorer (either attacking mid or a striker) then we are going down.

    Haller- 1 in 7
    Lanzini – never scores
    Antonio – always injured
    Yarmalenko – always injured
    Anderson – never scores
    Ajeti – ?

We need someone who can get 5-8 goals to keep us up! RB can wait till the summer but a goalscorer is paramount to our survival.

    • Robert Paul Bass says:

      Noble- No pace
      Rice- No pace
Snodgrass – No Pace/Only there for set pieces
Sanchez – Worst midfield player in League
      Wheelchair – Forget it

Painfully slow moving forwards with the ball

    • AspiEd says:

…….which seems to point to Giroud?
No 12-month settling-in time and does not hide; unlike too many of our current players.
Can’t see any other way to bring Haller out of his shell + they speak the same language.
Question, as always, is he fit? Although, that has never seemed to bother our recruiters.

  • The Cat says:

I used to wonder why so many supporters were so cynical despite the odd signing or rumours…….. Now I know why, as I find myself feeling the same.
It wears you down in the end and no one will be surprised if no other players come in.
I’m sure the chuckle brothers could do a better job at this club.

  • Craig Benee says:

It’s almost like they WANT mass protests and bad press

If they don’t make any other signings Saturday could get very very toxic for them

  • PAUL GARNER says:

i agree 100 per cent with all 3 comments above
    you are totally spot on
hi from the happy hammer [ not ] in thailand

  • Peter Elliott says:

Other clubs don’t seem to have trouble getting deals done do they of course there well run clubs and not a shambles with useless owners only in it for the money they earn by milking the club dry if we go down its the owners fault 100%

  • Lee Dobinson says:

The stock GSB position: loads of bids bit no actual signings. The quicker these clowns leave town the better.

  • farehamammer says:

“Lots of bids”Just spin !Nothing but phantom ‘bids’

  • David norton says:

Never have owners deserved relegation more .Pity us poor fans have to suffer the disconnect between the club and its loyal fans is wider than the grand canyon

  • Hammero says:

Bowen to Palace, Brownhill to Burnley being reported. Young players with experience who Moyes has said are his target market, ending up at two of our rivals. Assume he was dithering again watching them on video whilst the other clubs made their moves.
Amazing we have run out of time, if only we knew the window was shutting in January !!!

  • Julian Woodhouse says:

Utter joke and only one place the blame for this can be laid at the foot of, yes the Board, lack of understanding of the precariousness of our situation, lack of decisive action., lack of credibility in the football world and really do t care enough about West Ham football club and its fans.

  • Che says:

Imagine if we had chico or Perez available right now or even carroll?
None of these guys banged them in but they all chipped in when needed
We totally oversold our forwards in the summer. It was obvious then and chicarito being sold after has left us terribly short upfront. Talk about all your eggs in one basket.

    We need a striker now!

  • Peter Elliott says:

Burnley and Palace buying good young players but we can’t why ????

  • Dusty Miller says:

That’s the pure stupidity of the winter window every club holds back like a poker game holding back your hand ? And on the last day?= absolute Maham trying to get deals over the line and getting medicals sorted ! all ends up should have, could have, and disappointment or very rare = joy?? The only one to gain = sky transfer news, a whole days programming on the box and always ends up disappointing to most of us

  • The Honest Friend says:

Beggars can’t be choosers, but why are West Hams board choosing to be beggars?

  • Josh says:

Sean tell them to go and get Jarrod Bowen!! 16 million for the championships best player , will be worth treble that next summer .

  • Dusty Miller says:

There’s news the Chinese league has been postponed indefinitely and there players on a break!! mad idea ge Arnie back on short term loan ? He worked well with Moyes? ( desperate seeking fan😁😁😁)

  • mark wiggins says:

The likely reason we’re getting nowhere is because Sullivan in particular offers silly deals nowhere near what the selling club want. I reckon he thinks that 1 midfielder & a back up keeper will keep the fans quiet, well it won’t . He needs to step up and add a least one more player this window.. he is to blame for the lack of squad depth and weaknesses . Not good enough !

  • Hammerkip says:

Absolutely pathetic..the clubs an absolute joke ..we deserve to go down ..

  • Hammers64 says:

As mentioned by everyone, unless a striker is brought in I really do think we will go down.Toothless up front and goals are what will save us.A month has gone and the owners have only woken up after an absolute caning by fans and media alike. It would be tantamount to negligence if this club gets relegated.

  • Phillip says:

I can’t help thinking back to 1997 – I know there was no “transfer window”, but that flurry of business we did between early Feb and the transfer deadline bringing in Kitson, Hartson and Lomas was salvation. I know that we need quality, but is it beyond the realms of possibility that there is quality who can’t get into the first XI of other teams in the PL, or quality in the Championship who might relish this kind of opportunity?

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Short term thinking as usual from the board and the scatter gun comes out. It was obvious we needed more strike options before the summer window let alone the winter version but the board waited at least a fortnight too long to get rid of MP and a month too long in the window. Hopefully Soucek has enough about him to lift our fortunes but it’s a big gamble by the board if he is the only first team starter we buy.

  • LJ says:

Well theres a surprise, let’s wait till the last days of window and your ” source ” is not doubt one of the idiot’s responsible

  • Henry says:

Correct. Absolutely no reason to go out and buy worse than we already have just as a panic buy to make up the numbers. We’ve done that too many times in the past. New Right back needs to be better than Fredericks and Zaba and if young have more potential than Ben Johnson or ngakia. New striker if young needs to have more potential than arjeti or silva. How many decent players are going to be up for sale midway through the season anyway? Those that are available are probably only sold because of over inflated price or because they will be off in the summer anyway and a club is wanting to cash in early. There’s not much out there and every club is sniffing round those that are out there. At the beginning of this season we were all happy. I honestly thought we had the best squad of players I’d ever seen at West Ham. Even Mark Noble said that. Since then we’ve been unlucky with injuries, and poor form from what should be our best players. I’m still hopeful we’ll turn it around. I can’t honestly imagine our second half of season will be as bad as first half under Pellegrini but then we have to remember Pellegrini had a fully fit squad to work with, Moyes has taken over an injury crocked squad. I still think we’ll get out of it and the reason is Tomas souchek. Its the midfield where we’ve been played through. Much as we love Noble I think everyone realises he cant play two games in the same week and he hasn’t got the legs. His heart sends him chasing after the ball but it often ends in him either losing the ball or lunging for the ball and making a bad tackle or as probably happens way too often, leaves space in behind him for pacier opposition to run through.

  • Bella100 says:

Bring back Jordan Hugill…… he cant do any worse than Haller & after seeing a recent podcast post about Hugil at the WBA game, at least it seems like he actually cares about the hammers

  • Spotted Dog says:

Really ****ed off Sander Berge has gone to Sheffield. So now we’re less attractive than a team on no one’s radar until this year. If you want to know what ‘next level’ means, ask Sheffield Utd.

  • Hammer64 says:

I’ve read the articles & comments on here for quite a few years now. I have been branded a ‘moaner’ although I reckon that in regard to the owners I started off a supporter but have become a cynic- i an suspicious now of everything they do or say,but that’s based on my view of the facts. What is amazing reading the comments on here now is that hardly anybody seems to be coming on to defend them or offer the usual stuff about how we should be blaming the players, what a laugh it is getting hammered every week, how it has always been like this & it will all be alright in the end because the owners are real fans. It does feel as if there has been a turning point this season. Unfortunately it won’t be enough to get the owners to do the decent thing & put the club up for sale even if we do go down. Dark days.
