West Ham’s turnover could be set to reach or pass the £250 million mark next season if supporters fully return to the London Stadium.
A top ten finish for the Hammers next season should get close to £145m of TV broadcast revenue or more.
Ticket revenue should return to at least £27m as should commercial activities at around £28m, add in retail revenue of around £10m on the back of European qualification.
In addition, West Ham could earn around £40m off potential prize money, TV rights and European ticket revenue from the Europa League group satges and you get to the magic figure of around £250m for the season.
Earlier this week we revealed that the Hammers are set to earn up to £210m of revenue for the most recent campaign despite the pandemic.
The Hammers are set to receive a massive £155m from broadcasters for last season. Each Premier League received a £38m share plus for domestic TV rights £47m in overseas rights. As every game was broadcast on TV every club also received another £38m in lieu of facilities payments. Finally, the Hammers received £30m as a merit payment for finishing in sixth place.
Add to the £155m broadcast income £26m of TV income from the previous season that was deferred plus £20m in commercial activities and sponsorship and £8.5m in retail sales. Ticket revenue for the year was reduced to around £500,000 with just two restricted games played in front of season ticket holders.
Both last season and this coming season are set to break the previous record turnover of £191m set in the 2018/2019 season.
If revenue is so high Sean does this mean more money to spend in the window?
That is a good question as revenue doesn’t equate to profit or cash but even with a large wage bill, serving the bank loans and historic transfer installments we will have more to spend on transfers
Even more importantly, we got to hang on to the players we’ve got
Great, then enough to invest in good players to add the needed competition in depth for the challenges of the season to come. Over to you G&S!!!
