Speculation surrounding David Moyes‘ future at West Ham has calmed down recently, with many expecting him to leave at the end of the season. This has led to extensive scouting by West Ham, with a staggering 14 managers linked to the job.

The list of potential replacements includes high-profile names like Ruben Amorim, Julen Lopetegui, and Thomas Tuchel, along with emerging talents like Kieran McKenna and Steve Cooper.

A recent report by the Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg throws a curveball into the equation. According to Steinberg, Brighton’s manager Roberto De Zerbi is likely to leave the club despite having no concrete offers. Interestingly, Brighton are rumoured to be interested in Kieran McKenna, a reported target for West Ham as well.

Steinberg suggests that De Zerbi’s attacking style of play aligns more closely with what West Ham fans desire compared to Moyes’ approach. Additionally, De Zerbi’s comfort with a director of football model, similar to West Ham’s setup with Tim Steidten, could be a plus.

With De Zerbi seemingly open to a new challenge and limited options on the table, West Ham could be missing out on an exciting opportunity if they don’t act quickly.

If De Zerbi isn’t pursued, West Ham might need to refocus their efforts on McKenna, especially if Ipswich achieves promotion. However, Ipswich’s financial constraints might make it difficult for them to compete in the Premier League, potentially swaying McKenna towards a move to West Ham.

Steinberg highlights Brighton’s reputation for shrewd recruitment, both in terms of players and managers. West Ham risks losing out on potentially talented individuals if they hesitate.

This new development puts the pressure on West Ham’s board to make a swift decision. Do they pursue the available De Zerbi or make a renewed push for McKenna? Both options offer different advantages, and West Ham needs to carefully consider their long-term vision before making their move.

Really need to do some research. I am a Hammer/ITFC Fan living in Ipswich. Ipswich have already sold out all their season tickets for next season (22000), they have had a cash injection from their American owner of over £250 million. They are a financially astute organisation, with McKenna tied down to a four year contract.

Out of date already as it’s being reported the hated Sullivan thinks the grossly underwhelming and out of work moron Lopetegui is now the first choice.

Without a shadow of a doubt it shows what an imbecile Sullivan is.

If he thinks we’re going to except this loathed flop he’s got another thing coming. The protests will be far louder than the silenced bowl every week.

This is the worst possible choice only because this money-grabbing twerp doesn’t want to part with a buy-out clause fee.

He’s brought in Steidten but refuses to listen because he thinks he’s learned more from the Sunday Sport.

If this idiot was so good, why does only this fool want him?

Out of work for a year, won ten lost ten with Wolves, including failing to impress against us when we were at our lowest, and uproar from AC fans because they know more about football than Sullivan and his pantomime Dame sidekick. His record is embarrassing.

Our club will remain a circus and to be honest, what decent, serious football person would look and Sullivan and feel they’re dealing with an honest man who knows football? NOT ONE PERSON sitting in the Saddam Hussein decorated palace in Essex. Poor Amorin. He must’ve thought this meeting was a gotcha joke. No wonder he made a groveling apology.

You say you have contacts at the club?? Then I hope this reaches them …. WE DO NOT WANT LOPETEGUI ANYWHERE NEAR OUR CLUB!!! he is the Spanish David Moyes, his defensive football is atrocious and boring, he does not promote or use youth players, he is an absolute joke as a manager and his appointment would be a huge insult….many are saying they will NOT renew season tickets if lopetegui is appointed, I personally WILL PROTEST if Lopetegui is appointed…and I hope others follow suit …Appointing Lopetegui shows ZERO AMBITION and we DO NOT WANT LOPETEGUI HERE !!!!

  • Malcolm Horswill says:

Sullivan’s ear is being bent by agent Barry Silkman (allegedly!) who sees an opportunity to secure fees with someone like Lopetigui. While Sullivan remains in charge we will never have a young adventurous manager who promotes the youth team. Steiden will surely leave if Lopetigue is appointed. The club is becoming a joke.

  • Herbert Leonelli says:

Please not lopetigue, he’s more of the same. De zerbi would be amazing, anyone with an attacking mentality, possession and great tactics

  • Fed Up WHU says:

Let’s be honest, as long as Sullivan and Brady have control the club won’t do anything. They are joke owners who know sod all about football and football people.

  • ResultsMatter says:

The only way a really good Manager would accept an offer from such a badly run club as West Ham is if you offer this person a really fat contract.

  • Ian says:

I doubt. if even that would be enough, a very good manager. would still. weigh up all. the prose and. cons. , see. a hierarchy in. an. obvious shambles. offering NO. CLEAR. PATHWAY
and say. NO THANKS there are. plenty. of. more rewarding. OFFERS. elsewhere.
