Zaba on course for a new deal

|

Pablo Zabaleta has made a great start towards landing a new deal with the Hammers and it’s becoming clear that he could now end his career at the Irons.

The 33 year old right back has been a revelation in the Premier League this season and is keeping summer free signing Ryan Fredericks – eight years his junior – out of the starting X1.

Zaba was a Manuel  Pellegrini favourite whilst he was at Manchester City and is continuing to show why the Chilean boss leans on him so heavily at the back.

And ClaretandHugh has discovered that should the defender make 25 appearances in the Premier League this season he will automatically see his contract extended by a further 12 months.

.A senior source explaining the position said: “He’s in terrific form and the fact is that defenders full backs can go on for some time.

“He has a clause in his deal that should he make 25 appearances  he will automatically see his contract renewed. Obviously he’s made a great start this season and is a top professional.

“It would be great if he could end his career with the club – he’s a real role model to the younger players.”

Excellent. For me, he should be deputy captain.

It’s amazing that he gets this accolade when , ‘ his legs have gone ‘. Good luck to him with his new contract. He could well end up as our next manager.
