Zouma deal will spark new Rice/Soucek deals

|

Kurt Zouma’s move to West Ham appears to be edging closer which would spark a round of increased contract deals to the likes of Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.

The club are continuing to insist that the Chelsea central defender’s personal terms are lower than the £145k a week currently being reported.

But even should they be closer to £100k a week that’s more than the Hammers captain and Hammer of the Year although we understand that Declan can have a massive new contract whenever he wants.

We have also learned that Tomas can expect a new deal next summer although it’s likely his agents will want that to take effect in January.

Moyes had made Zouma his number one target since the window opened and has refused to budge in his ambition to get the player on board.

It has been regularly reported that a massive Zouma  wage deal could spark dressing room unrest but he believes he can cope with the situation.

TalkSport reported yesterday that a £30 million fee has been agreed with Chelsea but the haggling over personal terms is continues.

ClaretandHugh says: Any deal that may bring Zouma to the club cannot be allowed to compromise Declan and Tomas’ position at West Ham. These are the finest players we have seen at the club in many years and are clearly worth as much and more than  the Chelsea defender. The club will need to convince both that they will get exactly what they are worth and surely that should be NOW. Anything else may see see the board and Moyes playing with fire

Great times to be a Hammers fan . At last we seem to be going places . Maybe now the negative fans will give GSB a little more leeway . There was nothing wrong with the crowd at the London Stadium v Leicester city . Support your team & club .

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

If true call it off, what about our best defender Ogbonna, every pundit is questioning why we would pay Zouma top dollar because his performances don’t warrant it. Classic GSB pay ridiculous wages to get a deal done for an average player, that makes then unsellable because no one will match the salary. Felipe Anderson, Yarmolenko, Wilshere the list goes on, Zouma will struggle to hold down a first team place, he is not as good a defender as Dawson and questionable if he is comparable to Diop.

I agree with 32. If Zouma believes he’s worth more to our team than Ogbonna, Rice, Soucek, Coufal, Antonio, Benrahma, Bowen or Fornals then let him stay on the bench at Chelsea. If he does come here and unsettle our team-spirit and/or wage structure then Moyes will have got this all wrong – and I’ve always been a fan of his. Humility, hard work, talent and togetherness have got us to the top of the Premiership. Got to be better value and potential in the Championship or Prague than Zouma! Still, if Moyes thinks he’s worth it …

That’s a fair point. Just because he is a known name and from a elite team, it seems that GSB don’t mind paying too money and salary. I still think we are paying over the odds for him. I think better value would of been a Worall or Soutar (sorry about spelling) type buys. As they would be hungry to step up. I think Zouma could became complacent, especially as concentration is a weak trait of his.

West Ham are treading on ice by paying Zayna this much ( 140k a week ). First of all,He ain’t worth it and secondly this will create a snowball effect. He will be far from our best player and be making sh*t loads more than anyone in our team.

  • Clive says:

Should give Coufal the pay rise he deserves first before thinking about anyone else.

  • Fabionic says:

Why would you report he was the number one signing all along when a player at half the price had agreed personal terms was dropped because his agent wanted a healthy commission?
I’m not anti Zouma, far from it, but the signing plus Lingard, leaves no money left for a back up striker, imo.

  • Hammers in the blood 1 says:

I respect others views , but we don’t actually know how much his salary will be . If we’re going ahead it will be acceptable to us . I actually do think he will improve the defence , he’s a good player IMO ⚒

Agree with WHF 32. Never really impressed by Zouma. Except for his first couple of years. Never looked the same since his injury though. His loan spell at Stoke was atrocious. He can’t make it in the first team for Chelsea or France. Average player with high salary demands. Look for someone else please.
