Zouma still out

|

David Moyes has confirmed that Kurt Zouma is still injured.

The central defender is continuing to recover from a knee injury and is not going to play against Leeds in what could be a vital game for Moyes’ future.

He has also confirmed that Nayef Aguerd is continuing to recover, and could well be thrown into the deep end of the relegation struggle after overcoming the issue he sustained at the World Cup with Morocco.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Moyes said: “Mick has had a bit of illness, which a lot of people have had around the country, but hopefully he’s OK.

“Kurt is doing OK, but he’s not available for this game.

“Nayef is getting himself back ready and is under serious consideration for this game. He picked up a virus and injury at the World Cup, but he’s back training and building himself up.

“He’s really important. He’s a new player that we’ve got to introduce to the Premier League.”

Elsewhere, Mikey Antonio has been dealing with an illness that has been spreading around the country, although Moyes remains hopeful that he will be fit to play against Leeds.

If he isn’t, there will have to be a call made on Gianluca Scamacca, who is continuing to struggle in front of goal after his summer move.

The Hammers desperately need to win the game if they are to climb clear of the bottom three.
